Initial Concept

This is the real start of the physical construction. This shows a single motor, 1/8 inch thick hub and the original hand cart wheels.

This is also the cardboard template I used for a wooden test bot base.
[ 7up can is in the picture to show scale. ]

Wooden base with 2 motors mounted and the 110VAC wiring used to test the platform without a speed controller or any other electronics.

You think putting standard home electrical plugs on the 24VDC motors was a bad idea?

That is my good white carpet in my living room you see under the bot. This is the last time my Wife allowed me to construct in the house. Because we live in central Wisconsin this proved to be a problem building in December.

Test frame I welded myself after about 2 weeks of learning how to weld with my new Hobart Handler 175 (This *IS* the welder to get if you want to build bots. Do not bother with 110Volt welders).

You see the frame is only spot welded. At the time of this construction this is what I believed the "New Cruelty" would look like. What did I know at that time!

You can also see two 17Ah SLA batteries that I got free from a decommissioned UPS at Greenheck Fan.

You can still see the standard house outlet plugs attached to the motors.

This would have made a decent bot. But didn't follow my by then developing, "Go big or stay home" philosophy...
